It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "SUZANNE BADIOU (NÉE BAZIN), Born: Jun 06, 1926, Date of Passing: Oct 28, 2009; Peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, Mrs. Suzanne Badiou of Swan Lake, Manitoba passed away at the age of 83 years. She leaves to mourn he".r passing, her loving husband of 54 years, Lou Badiou; their two daughters: Debbie Badiou and Jo-Ann Van De Velde (Tony Hoess); four grandchildren: Lance, Paul and Sam Van De Velde and Regan Hoess. Also left to mourn are her siblings: Denise (Roger) Pittet, Renée Delaquis, Aline (Russ) Preston, Annette (Bob) Deleurme, Odile Badiou, Raymond (Viviane) Bazin and André (Odette) Bazin; in-laws: Cécile (Roméo) Delaquis and René (Alice) Badiou as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mercédès (née Lafrenière) Bazin; one granddaughter Emily Van De Velde; in-laws: Raymond Delaquis, Gérard Badiou, Antoinette and Roland Brouzes, Denise and Raymond Avanthay; and two brothers at infancy: André and Gérald. Sue Badiou (Mom) was born on June 26, 1926 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, the eldest of eight surviving children to Joseph and Mercedes Bazin. She grew up in a very loving and close knit family, where the love of music was passed to all. Mom married the love of her life, Lou Badiou, in 1955, and after living briefly in Victoria, BC, they settled in Swan Lake where they raised their two daughters. Together, Mom and Dad worked hard and built up a business in Swan Lake, working side-by-side there for many years. After her retirement, Mom kept busy - camping, fishing, curling, gardening, walking, playing cards, doing puzzles, and always being involved and helping out with church and community activities. She also enjoyed travelling with Dad. They went on many trips in their little Cessna, flying it down to Texas, over the mountains to BC, and many shorter trips. They also spent a few winters in Mesa, Arizona. Mom was a gifted and talented piano player, and it was a delight to watch and listen to her play. She also loved to knit, and made many beautiful items, mostly baby sweaters and baby blankets, which she gave away as gifts. Family and friends were so important to Mom. She sent countless cards and letters over the years, and every card included a loving and personal message. Family gatherings were Mom's greatest pleasure - birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries were always celebrated. Even getting together for Sunday dinner was a joyous event, and no matter the occasion, we were always greeted at the door with a warm, loving hug. Above all else, her grandchildren were her greatest source of joy. Mom and Dad took them camping and fishing, attended all their school concerts and activities, and spent many, many hours at the arena watching them play hockey. Just being with the boys for any reason made her so happy. Thank-you, Mom. We could not have asked for a better wife, Mom, or Meme. You were kind, generous, honest and always put others ahead of yourself. Our cherished memories of you will be our strength for years to come. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Notre Dame Foyer who so kindly and lovingly took care of Mom for the last 3 1/2 years, and to the family members who spent so much time with Mom - visiting, taking her for walks, and singing to her. Family Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Francis Eworo and Msgr Roger Bazin officiating. Family interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3L 4G2. He leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters, Debbie Badio".u and Jo-Ann Van De Velde (Tony Hoess); four grandchildren, Lance (Louise), Paul and Sam Van De Velde, and Regan Hoess; one sister Cécile (Roméo) Delaquis, and one brother René (Alice) Badiou. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Suzanne (née Bazin) in 2009; one granddaughter Emily Van De Velde; his siblings, Gérard Badiou, Antoinette (Roland) Brouzes and Denise (Raymond) Avanthay. Dad was born to Antoine and Jeanne Badiou on October 6, 1930 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB. He resided there until the early 1950s, when he joined the Navy to serve in Korea. In 1955 he married Suzanne Bazin and they moved to Victoria, BC while he was stationed in Nanaimo. In 1957 they moved back to Manitoba and settled in Swan Lake where they raised their two daughters, Debbie (1961) and Jo-Ann (1963). Together Mom and Dad worked hard building up a business in Swan Lake and worked side-by-side there for many years. Community involvement was a big part of Dad's life - he served on the School Board, Hospital Board, Manor Board, Pembina Valley Conservation District, R.M. of Lorne for many years as councillor then later as Reeve, as well as various other committees. Not one to remain idle, he kept busy with all types of other interests and hobbies, a few of them being: hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, woodworking, card-playing, travelling, and helping out on the farm. One of his greatest passions was flying and many adventures were taken with Mom in his little Cessna, some trips as far down as Texas and over the Rockies to Vancouver. It was always fun to go up with Dad for an afternoon of sight-seeing or crop-checking. Family and friends were the light of Dad's life and his happiest times were spent with loved ones. His grandchildren were a great source of pride and joy. Mom and Dad took the boys camping and fishing, were always in the audience for school concerts and festivals, and spent countless hours at the arena watching them play hockey. He never passed up an opportunity to spend time with the boys. Thank-you, Dad. We could not have asked for a better husband, Dad, or Pepe. You were caring, compassionate and would do anything for anybody. Our cherished memories of you will be our strength for the rest of our lives. A heartfelt thank-you to the staff of the Notre Dame Foyer who so kindly and lovingly cared for Dad since he moved there in April 2012. Family Prayers will be held at Adams Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
