Alice vint au monde le 1er mai 1909, su".r la ferme paternelle a Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Elle grandit entouree de lamour de ses parents, Victor Gilbert-Collet et Marie Vuignier et de ses freres: Clement, Charles, Jean et Albert. Tres jeune, elle apprit a travailler dans la maison et a prendre soin de ses petits freres pendant que sa mere travaillait aux champs pour aider son pere. Pendant 5 ans, elle fut pensionnaire chez les religieuses Chanoinesses des Cinq Plaies de Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. La, sous la direction des religieuses, grandit la foi que ses parents lui avaient inculquee des sa tendre enfance et dont on a vu la preuve depuis. Le 8 novembre 1938, elle epousa Arthur Chappellaz, natif de St-Claude et de souche savoyarde comme elle-meme. Leur seule fille, enfant unique Marielle, naquit le 25 septembre 1939. Marielle epousa Norbert Bruneau le 2 aout 1969. Ils eurent deux enfants: Gerard epousa Charlene Harp. Ils furent beni par larrivee de Robyn, Gregg et Ian. Lynne epousa Gilbert de Rocquigny. Ils ont une petite fille, Chantal. Durant 46 ans Alice, avec son Arthur bien-aime, demeura sur la ferme au nord de St-Claude et fit le metier depouse de fermier: traire les vaches, soigner les poules, ramasser les oeufs, apporter les repas aux champs pendant les gros travaux, le jardinage, etc... Alice a bien choye ses petits-enfants quelle aimait tant: que dafghans quelle crocheta pour eux; que de jouets en pluche quelle fit pour eux. Elle confectionna des petites couvertes pour ses arriere-petits-enfants. Au mois doctobre 1998, elle laissa la ferme ou elle avait vecu pendant 60 ans pour se retirer au Manoir de St-Claude. De nos jours, elle etait une personne qui avait un sens dhumour, qui aimait parler, dire des farces, jouer aux cartes avec ses amis. Elle suivait aussi le conseil dun pretre, qui lui avait dit: "La chose la plus importante quune grand-mere et une arriere-grand-mere qui ne peut plus travailler peut faire est de prier pour ses petits-enfants et ses arriere-petits-enfants" en attendant sa recompense bien meritee. Elle laisse pour cherir sa memoire; sa fille Marielle et son epoux Norbert; leurs enfants Gerard et Charlene (Robyn, Gregg et Ian) Lynne et Gilbert de Rocquigny (Chantal). Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil son frere Albert Collet et sa belle-soeur Marie Collet, ainsi que ses belles-soeurs; Marguerite Chappellaz, Angele Chappellaz et Rose Rey et un beau-frere Leon Rey; beaucoup de neveux et nieces, cousins et cousines. Prayers will be held at Adams Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27 at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Rodrigue Bouchard officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends or family may send memorial donations to the St. Claude Pavilion, Box 400, St. Claude, MB, R0G 1Z0.
