One of the many services owned and operated by local newspapers around the world that provide free access to the obituaries, death notices, and "in memorium" notes publised by families and loved ones upon the death or on an anniversary of one to honour the lives lived of the ones they have lost.

Please see the NOTE attached to this source for further details about this material, on a proprietary service operated by this newspaper, with alternate ways to directly access the same information and more via the referenced website.

    • From: The Winnipeg Free Press

Described as: The largest online newspaper archive of obituaries, death notices, and "in memorium" notes publised by families in Manitoba, CANADA. At this time (early 2022), this archive now includes access to material published in Manitoba regional newspapers, The Brandon Sun and The Carillon (Steinbach).

      Details: Free Access
      Their reference: N/A
Location: The Winnipeg Free Press, nominally located in Winnipeg, MB, CANADA

      Further:

The Winnipeg Free Press stands today (early 2022) as the single source of local and global news offered in printed form. It currently publishes its print editions six days a week (not on Sundays) and regularly does not print on any statutory holiday.

As is the case for nearly all journalistic endeavours, their mission has been modified to heavily leverage the capabilities of the Internet. This enterprise has chosen to put most of its content behind a paywal, but a notable exception is made for its death notices, etc. These are available free of charge to anyone with an interest.

Their "Passages" service can be accessed here.

In addition to the powerful search features available there, they offer the ability to filter their notices by the funeral home in care of arrangements. That ability is accessed via this page on their site.

This feature is of particular interest to people and families who are aware of their connections to family members in the areas served by some of the funeral homes whose activities are largely related to caring for the people who live in proximity to their offices.

      OF SPECIAL NOTE:
Your host encourages you to explore the sites operated by these funeral homes. It has become apparent that families are taking advantage of these sites to published more elaborate tributes to their lost loved one than may appear in the newspaper(s). Indeed, many of these now offer access to multimedia presentations that would otherwise have previously only been seen by people able to attend the service.
