Rick Dondo's Family Tree
Saints Anges de Lachine Cemetery, Lachine, Montreal Region, Quebec, Canada
Notes:
Also known as Cimetiere Catholique de Lachine, Lachine Catholic Cemetery
The original cemetery was located in the original churchyard, located in what is now Lasalle. In 1863, the parish followed the centre of population to the western end of the expanded Lachine Canal. A new church was built on rue St-Joseph, and a new cemetery was laid out on rue St-Louis between 14th and 15th avenues, just behind the church (presently the site of the Centre d'acceuil Nazaire Piché), and in 1866 remains were moved from the old cemetery to the new. By 1900, the area had become urbanized, and the present cemetery was established at the current location on rue Provost. The cemetery was expanded in 2007. The parish also maintains two columbaria located within the church.
The location of graves and memorials dedicated to the memory of various people identified on the tree who come onto it through marriage or many marriages.
In the event you have such an interest, your host suggests you can look for these and other memorials in this cemetery on one of the many on-line services offering catalogues of graves.
All corrections, additions, questions, and observations are welcome.
