MILDRED POBEREZNY (REFCHUK) (TOPOLNICKI), BORN: SEP 04, 1919, DATE OF PASSING: JAN 13, 2009; The family of Mildred Poberezny is saddened to announce her peaceful passing on January 13, 2009 with family by her side. Mildred was born September 4, 1919, in Fisher Branch, Manitoba. She married Rudy Refchuk in 1941. They settled in West Kildonan, and had two daughters, Barbara and Marlene. After Rudy passed away in 1962, Mildred worked to provide for her family until the girls were off on their own. Mildred married Walter Poberezny in 1972. Walter passed away in 1998. Mildred moved to Selkirk, Manitoba in 2005, to Woodlands Court, Red River Place, and finally to Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Marlene Shuster (Gerry) and Barbara Sabanski (Carl), granddaughter Robyn McIntyre (Stephen), great-granddaughter Aria McIntyre, numerous nieces and nephews, and sister Josie Blake of Port Coquitlam, BC. Mildred was predeceased by siblings Steve, Joe, Frank (Scotty), Tony, Joanne and Mary. An accomplished knitter, cook, baker and incredibly lucky gambler (BINGO!) who loved dancing at Shrine functions with Walter, Mildred made a lot of friends during her journey through life. She enjoyed the camaraderie with her customers who visited with her at the Child's Building, The Matador and the Mardigras restaurants, her bowling buddies from Billy Mosienko Lanes, her pals on those frequent junkets to Grand Forks, her many friends from the Shriners and the Women's Auxiliary, and especially her closest friends and next-door neighbours on McAdam Ave., Mr. and Mrs. A . The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness, care and respect given Mildred by the staff at Middlechurch Home, Dr. D. Haligowski, Seven Oaks Hospital, and long time family physician and friend Dr. John Moncek. Cremation has taken place per Mildred's wishes. A memorial service for Mildred will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, Msgr. M. Comeault officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg Inc, Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, or other worthy charity of your choice. I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living, My Mommy you'll be.
