FRANK MIKOLASH BORN: NOV 03, 1911, DATE OF PASSING: SEP 26, 2011; Peacefully, on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Dad passed away. Frank was born to Frank and Caroline Mikolash on the family homestead in Ladywood, MB on November 3, 1911. He was looking forward to his 100th birthday, but had a terrible fall on September 13 and spent his remaining days at the Selkirk Hospital. In 1940, Dad purchased his farm North of Tyndall and planted hundreds of trees for a shelter belt and farm yard. On June 11, 1942 Dad married Mary Chorney. They lived on the farm until mom got ill in 1995 and they moved to Selkirk, MB. After mom's passing on June 24, 1999, Dad continued to live on his own in Selkirk until he took up residence at the Betel Home in January of 2007. Dad is survived by his son Ed; daughter Dale (Bob); grandchildren, Jessica, Jason (Deborah), Rebecca and Joey; and great-grandson Nate. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Stella Wasylik (late Peter), Adeline Chorney (late Anton), Stella Chorney (late Joe), Stella Chorney (late John), as well as numerous relatives and friends. Besides mom, dad was predeceased by his father Frank in 1954; mother Caroline in 1977; sister Helen in 1953; brother Stanley in 1998, as well as two young sisters in 1918 from the Spanish Flu. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service was held on Friday, September 30 in the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Beausejour, beside his wife. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Betel Home, especially Leanne; also to all who visited dad, he enjoyed those visits so much; and to the staff of the Selkirk General Hospital for taking care of dad in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Betel Home in Selkirk (Tea Account). Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
