Adam's Funeral Home Online Obituaries (Web)[SD], (Adam's Funeral Home), 2009/04/02, Earl-Billings.
Peacefully at the East View Lodge, Neepawa, MB on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, Earl Billings passed away at the age of 83.
He leaves to mourn, his daughter Lucille Pott of Carberry; granddaughter Melissa Payette; grandson Shane Payette; great-grandsons Cody, Skyler and Blake all of Neepawa. He also leaves to cherish his memory one sister Merle Sereda of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Vernon and wife Eva Henderson; sister-in-law Lorraine Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl married Emma Henderson on November 24, 1951, and together raised and cherished on daughter Lucille. They lived in Winnipeg until 1973, then moved out to Rathwell to run the “Welcome Inn” restaurant. Later moved to Carberry to be with Lucille and grandchildren.
Dad will be remembered as a caring and loving father and grandfather who was always there for his family and welcoming people into his home. Dad loved music and played the banjo and guitar. You would often see dad walking around town talking with people.
In October 2000, Earl lost his beloved wife Emma after 49 years of marriage. They had many good years together and he was lost without her. In April 2002, he suffered with Alzheimer’s disease and moved to East View Lodge. Dad had fun with the staff with his joking and teasing. He always tried to “fool” us on April Fool’s Day, so it was fitting that it was the day he passed away.
The family would also like to thank the Doctors and Staff that looked after Dad for the past 7 years. Your caring and compassion and the extra things you did for Dad was very much appreciated. Also thanks to the nurses that were with us, the night of Dad’s passing. You made a very difficult time easier.
Graveside Services will be held at Woodlands Cemetery on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jim Haupt officiating. Pallbearers are his nephews, Jimmy, David, Wayne, Dale, Allan and Ray Henderson.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
We love and miss you … Always in our hearts …
