It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Francine on Friday, October 12, 2007 at the age of 64.
With her family by her side, she went into the arms of her bon Jesus . Francine is survived by her husband of 44 years, Philippe, her children, Michelle (Luc) Gauthier, Richard and Lynne (Jim) Golis; her four grandchildren, Roxanne, Nicole, Justin and Janique Gauthier. She also leaves to mourn her brothers and sisters, Owen (Marlene), Georgette Enns, Georges (Barbara), Rose-Marie Clark, Rene, Florence (Tony Zurba), Maurice (Brenda), Pierre, Michelle (Gerry) deRocquigny, Raymond (Shirley Reid), Ronald (Lauraine), Annette (Richard) Eibner, Rita (Jeannot St-Vincent), Collette (John) Barber, Dolores (Chris) Rutland; half brothers and sisters, Gaston (Armande), Monique, Jean (Rita), Reine (Ray Durksen), Laurent (Joanne).
Also left behind are her in-laws, Anna, Napoleon, Cecile (Conrad) Simard, Gisele (Eddy) Langlois, Celine (Edouard) Gagnon, Leon (Pierrette), Jean (Claudette), Helene (Phil) Vincent, Rosaire (Jeanine), Jacinthe (Bob) Mireault, sisters-in-law, Bernadette and Denise (Robert) Lambert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Francine was predeceased by her parents, Edythe and Camille Picton, half brothers and sister Joseph, Pierre and Marie, her parents-in-law, Hector and Solange Normandeau and brothers-in-law, Joseph and Olivier.
Born in Haywood April 1, 1943, she left the farm at an early age to move to Winnipeg to earn a living. Francine met her beloved Philippe when they both worked at the Sanitorium (St. Amant Centre). They were married August 10, 1963 in St. Vital.
Maman worked at St. Boniface General Hospital for 17 years. We'll remember her for her love of all animals, especially baby ones, her incredible strength and will to live and Go Jets Go!! Her greatest passions were working in her yard or garden (pulling out weeds), golfing with dad and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She treasured her trips with her in-laws to B.C., Texas and Quebec.
She was known for her witty sense of humour and practical jokes that she loved playing on her co-workers and family. Our fondest memories were had this past year at their 44th anniversary in St. Vital Park and recently at Thanksgiving. We'll never look at pie the same way again.
Special thanks to Doctors J. Levesque and G. Prenovost, staff, volunteers and residents of the Foyer Valade where she was a resident since January 1998. An extra thanks goes to the ER staff at Victoria General Hospital who made mom's last hours as peaceful as possible.
Prayers will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 Des Meurons. Funeral mass to be held at Eglise Precieux-Sang, 200 Kenny Street, Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
Francine, Maman, Memere, on va manqué ton rire contagieux, ton gros coeur et ton amour sans limites. See ya meemers!
