Following secretarial training at Success Business College she worked until her marriage, at Eatons, first in the Executive office and then in the Grocery Buying office. In 1934, Vivienne married Clifford Philips and from that time devoted her life to her family and her home. For 37 years she lived on Winchester St. During her active years, Vivienne was a member of the Shrine Ladies Auxiliary, the Daughters of the Nile and Alpha Delta Pi Mothers Club. She bowled in the Deer Lodge Ladies League and curled with the Valour Rd. Ladies. Throughout her life she was an avid reader, traveler and follower of current events. Vivienne was predeceased by her parents, Thorold and Gudny (Gwen) Johnson; her brothers, Stanley and Clifford Johnson, her sisters, Ethel Matthews and Dorothea Anthony and her beloved husband Clifford Philips. She leaves to mourn her loving daughter Diane Bewell and husband Donald of Winnipeg and her very special granddaughter Krista Bewell-Thomas and husband George of London, England as well as a number of nephews, and nieces. The family wishes to thank Linda and Anne, home care workers, whose kind attention allowed Vivienne to live independently until very recently. Thanks also go to Dr. Moran De Muller, and the staffs of Grace Hospital and Tuxedo Villa for making her last days as comfortable as possible. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey St. Padre Stan Millar officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Vivienne was predeceased by her parents, Thorold and Gudny (Gwen) Johnson; her brothers, Stanley and Clifford Johnson, her sisters, Ethel Matthews and Dorothea Anthony and her beloved husband Clifford Philips. She leaves to mourn her loving daughter Diane Bewell and husband Donald of Winnipeg and her very special granddaughter Krista Bewell-Thomas and husband George of London, England as well as a number of nephews, and nieces. The family wishes to thank Linda and Anne, home care workers, whose kind attention allowed Vivienne to live independently until very recently. Thanks also go to Dr. Moran De Muller, and the staffs of Grace Hospital and Tuxedo Villa for making her last days as comfortable as possible. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey St. Padre Stan Millar officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. The youngest daughter of a pioneer Icelandic family, Vivienne was bor".n in Winnipeg on February 19, 1906. She grew up on Maryland St., attending Mulvey School, Kelvin and St. Marys Academy. Following secretarial training at Success Business College she worked until her marriage, at Eatons, first in the Executive office and then in the Grocery Buying office. In 1934, Vivienne married Clifford Philips and from that time devoted her life to her family and her home. For 37 years she lived on Winchester St. During her active years, Vivienne was a member of the Shrine Ladies Auxiliary, the Daughters of the Nile and Alpha Delta Pi Mothers Club. She bowled in the Deer Lodge Ladies League and curled with the Valour Rd. Ladies. Throughout her life she was an avid reader, traveler and follower of current events.
