She could of been a daughter of  Mohawk/Anishinaabe woman. I am assuming The lake got it's name because the tribe brought their slaves there.  MAKWA: could be Anishinaabe for Bear which is spelled correctly but Wabanaki has The name Matgwa which sounds similar to Makwa.
