His existence is assumed from a family story in which he subsequently died at sea during a storm. The ship's manifest for their departure from Hamburg does NOT mention him.

Per the family history on the book "Beyond the Gates of Lower Fort Garry", he was killed during a storm in the mid-Atlantic during the family's crossing from Liverpool, ENGLAND to Quebec City, CANADA
