It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "LORRAINE L. PREJET, BORN: MAY 01, 1930, DATE OF PASSING: JUN 21, 2008; On Saturday, June 21st, 2008, Lorraine peacefully passed away at the Taché Centre. Following a long and painful illness, she has left us for a better place. Lorraine was born Ma".y 1, 1930 in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB. She has been predeceased by her parents, Casimir and Marie (Kervinio); her brother Jean; her sisters, Cécile Couture, Odette Fouasse and Yolande Péreux; her brothers-in-law, Marcel Gagné, Alain Péreux, Martial Fouasse and Ovila Couture; her sister-in-law Jeannine Préjet; her nieces, Guylaine Gagné, Odette (François) Préjet and nephew Hubert Péreux. In her youth, Lorraine spent years on the farm with her family. Those precious moments of silence close to the pond, her walks through wheat fields, her sleigh rides and beautiful horses formed her into a nature loving person. During her high school years, she developed her musical talents with piano lessons and choir singing, religious and folk songs. In 1948, she joined the Sisters of the Savior and for 38 years she devoted her life to the teaching profession and executive positions in the Order. She attended Normal School in Tuxedo and obtained a B.A. and a B.Ed. degree from the University of Manitoba. The rural schools of Haywood, St. Léon and Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes benefited of her presence as teacher at the elementary and high school levels and her leadership as principal. She also worked closely with the Norwood School Division when école Précieux-Sang transferred from a parochial school to a French teaching public school in the school division. Leaving teaching for nine years, she gave herself wholeheartedly to the executive positions in the religious order she had chosen in her younger years. These were the years of change and refoundation following the Vatican II Counsel. Reforms and awakenings occurred in the Church and in the cultural society in which Lorraine certainly took part. She went back to teaching French to government employees and then was employed at école Taché when a very severe stroke stopped her in her very busy life. With courage, patience and faith, she has lived through frustrations and pains during 18 years of total dependence. She leaves to mourn her passing her sister Monique (Gagné) Armstrong; her brother Alban; her sister-in-law Sidonie Préjet; her brother-in-law Max Armstrong as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who have with compassion and prayers assisted Lorraine in that long walk. May she rest in peace! Heartfelt thanks for all health care people who have been in Lorraine's life especially the staff of 3DE at the Taché Centre for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorraine's memory to the Taché Centre, 185 Despins St., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2B3 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at the Précieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny Street. Interment will take place at a later date in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB.
