He was predeceased by his late wife Odette (d. 1994) and his parents, Jean and Sidonie Préjet.
Gerry was born in Pine Falls, Manitoba and grew up on the family farm in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. As an adult, he moved to Winnipeg and worked as a pipefitter at CN until his retirement. He made friends wherever he went and was always available to help anyone in need. He volunteered his time as a 4th degree Knights of Columbus and became a regular fixture at the local Peavey Mart, spending countless hours selling raffle tickets for charity. Gerry was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens and had a lifelong love of camping and continued to do so with his family and friends in his later years.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Gerry may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
In keeping with Gerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Eugène Catholic Church, 1009 St. Mary’s Road.
