WILLIAM PEMKOWSKI, BORN: MAR 20, 1932, DATE OF PASSING: MAR 07, 2023; Bill Pemkowski of Stonewall, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the Stonewall Hospital, on March 7, 2023.
Bill was born March 20, 1932, in the town of Teulon, Manitoba. He was raised on the family farm south of Teulon in the Foley District.
He was predeceased by his father Andrew Pemkowski; mother Sarah (nee Rawluk), and one brother Richard.
Bill had a love of farm life, but later decided to work for Safeway until retirement 44 years later.
He met his future wife Shirley in 1955 and were united in 1958. They brought two children into their lives: Theresa in 1961 and Christopher in 1970. They resided in both Winnipeg and Anola until the year 2000, when the decision to retire in the Okanagan Valley was made. In 2017 there was a return journey to Stonewall, Manitoba to be closer to son Chris (Julie) and grandchildren, Mason 12 and Abigail 10.
Their greatest common enjoyment was the love of the peace and quiet, in the boat; with a fishing line in the water. The love of meeting new friends, as well as the many who they cherished as their “spiritual” family, gave them great joy and comfort.
A special thank you for all the wonderful care Bill received; especially Dr. M. Zahiri.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Arts Centre, 166 Main Street, Stonewall, in Quarry Park.
