The following notes for Joseph Benjamin Gauthier dit St Germain are from the genealogical report by E.L. Brassard:
"Benjamin Gauthier dit St-Germain farmer, minor son of Joseph Gauthier dit St-Germain and of Genevieve Brien dit Desroches of this parish, married at St-Remi, Comte of Napierville on 10 October 1848, Judith Bedard major daughter of Francois Bedard farmer and of Marie Provencal also of this parish, in presence of Francois Bedard brother-in-law undersigned, Nicolas Campbell brother-in-law of the groom, Francois Daigneau uncle, Joseph Bedard brother of the bride who as spouses have declared not knowing how to sign.One of their sons Joseph Odila will follow."
Benjamin Gauthier and his family immigrated to Minnesota in 1883 and founded the Minnesota branch of the "American" Gauthiers.
They first appear on census records in 1885. The Minnesota Territorial and State Censuses, 1849-1905 database lists them living in the Emardville Townsh
