Clarisse Marthe Paulette Vermette (Rocher)
Wednesday, May 17th, 1922 - Sunday, December 6th, 2020
Peacefully, on December 6, 2020, Clarisse Vermette passed away at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 98.
Born in 1922 in Saint-Lupicin, Manitoba to Marie (née Préjet) and Florimond Rocher, Clarisse is survived by her daughters Dée-Anne, Gisèle (Paul) and Lisa; her grandchildren Obi Lee (Shirley), Malachi (Anna), Aimée, Patrick (Jaymee), Mary-Anne (Ryan), Jean-Paul (Kerilee), and Julie; and great-grandchildren Lucy, Rhé-Ella, Maron, Jack, Levi, Llewyn, Corbin and Vaeda.
Clarisse was predeceased by her parents, her husband Alfred (Ted) Vermette, her siblings Firmin, Alice, Aimé, Marthe, Raymond and her beloved daughter Rhéa.
Chacha was a gentle, open-hearted soul, with an exceptional joie de vivre. She always found the time to visit, listen, giggle and beat you at a game of crib. Clarisse enjoyed many summers with her extended family at her cottage at Plage Albert, where she spent many evenings playing cards (pinochle, bridge, rumoli, etc.), entertaining friends, sharing good French cuisine, enveloped in the warmth of live music. In her earlier years, she travelled to many places and brought home souvenirs and pictures to share with us all.
We are grateful to those who helped care for Chacha: the staff at Résidence Despins, Dr. Doan and the staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and kindness.
In keeping with Chacha’s wishes, cremation has taken place and due to restrictions on public gatherings a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Chacha may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
