Wes joined the army in Calgary, on November 7, 1952 and received his honorary discharge February 6, 1956. He was in Germany, Holland, England and France, to name a few, with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. Dad married the love of his life Ruth (Garrett) on October 9, 1971. Left to mourn his passing is his wife Ruth; children, Brian (Iris) and grandson Noah of Winnipeg; Bruce (Kathy) and grandsons, Wesley, Nicholas and Adam of Winnipeg; Stan (Penny) and granddaughters, Robin and Melissa of Winnipeg; Wayne (Dawn) of Alberta; Evelyn and grandchildren, Christopher, Crystal and Nicole of Winnipeg; Rose and grandchildren, Natascha and Sariah of Winnipeg; Wanda (Derek) and grandchildren Rose, Gregory, Mariah and Dakota of Meleb; sister, Verna Sorokowski of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Susan, Trudy, and Jan of Winnipeg; Wilma Garrett of Riverton; Eva Garrett-Krawec, and family of Sylvan; brothers-in-law, Robert (Judy) Garrett and Thomas (Gina) Garrett and family; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Alice; sisters, Evelyn, Beulah, Daisy and Ilona; brothers, Darrel, Douglas and Donald; son-in-law Richard Smith; brother-in-law Lou; parents-in-law, John and Rose Garrett. The family would like to thank Gilbart and Mackenzie Funeral Homes, the RCMP, paramedics and hospital staff for all your assistance, as well as Pastor Clem and Julie Morency, along with the Arborg Christian Fellowship, and all our friends and family. Cremation has taken place according to his wishes, a celebration of his life will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Silver Hall.
