MARIE-FRANCE (FRAN) DEJONG, DATE OF PASSING: SEP 18, 2004; MARIE-FRANCE (FRAN) DeJONG 1918 - 2004 It is with sorrow that the family of Fran DeJong (nee Teillet) announces her passing on September 18, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at 86 years of age. Fran leaves us to join her husband John and son Jimmy. She will be sadly missed by her son Donald and his wife Hughena of Ottawa; her grandchildren, Greg (Waterloo), Mike (Ottawa) and Peggy (Kingston) her sisters, Marie (Gus) Thorimbert and Yolande Schicke; her brother Ed Teillet; and godchild Suzanne (John) Scatliffe. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Teillet, Betty Teillet, Rita Lacombe and Diena Young, as well as nieces and nephews. Fran lived her life devoting herself to her family. For the past three decades, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She would sew and bake at a moments notice and never tire of hearing their news. She enjoyed the past two years at Catherine Place in a caring environment making many new friends. Fran thoroughly enjoyed her Thursday game of cards. To her friends from her last game: she practiced daily with her grandchildren every Christmas holiday! The family would like to express their sincere appreciation of all the examplary care given by the staff at both the Victoria Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre, espeically Dr. Raab and team, Dr. Sanjay and team, and David MacPherson. Their time, keeping Don and his family in Ottawa informed daily of Frans progress in the past few months is much appreciated. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24 at the St. Vital Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. with Fr. Patrick Morand officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place in St. Norbert immediately following. Fran so enjoyed her friends and extended family, she specifically request that a reception be held. In her last few months, she commented many times on how she felt very loved. Her family will be honoured to meet you in the church hall (St. Vital) following interment. The Desjardins Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
