      1927 - 2022

Mrs. Laurette de Moissac-Cherlet passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on June 7, 2022 at Foyer Valade nursing home in St. Vital.
Daughter of Lucien Marchand and Thérèse Pelletier, she completed nursing school at St. Boniface General Hospital in 1949 and worked in St. Boniface, Meadow Lake and Redvers, Saskatchewan. She married Georges de Moissac on June 29, 1957. Working for the Canadian Pacific Railway, they raised their six children in Carberry, Macgregor, Tilston, St. Claude, Riverton and St. Jean-Baptiste. Georges passed away suddenly on July 24, 1976; Laurette devoted herself to raising her young family. She is survived by her six children: Paul (Monique), Renée (Doug Winger), Claude (Michelline Lamontagne), Roseline, Jean, Danielle (Richard Alarie), her eight grandchildren, Pierre (Kheira Jolin), Nathalie, Serge, Sylvie (Laurent Levesque) and Jacques (Katrina Leclerc) de Moissac, Luc, Eric and Myriam Alarie and four great-granddaughters, Arianne, Leah and Isabelle de Moissac and Evelyne Levesque. She is also survived by her sisters, Lucille Bazin and Margot Degagné, and her brother Maurice (Lise).
In 1998, following 22 years of widowhood, Laurette married George Cherlet and was welcomed by his family: Len (Carmel), Ron (Freda) and Larry (Jillian) and their children. They enjoyed trips in Canada, the USA, and Europe together. George passed away on February 13, 2015.
The funeral will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at St. Eugène Church in St. Vital with viewing at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of the Resurrection. Burial will follow at the St. Claude Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Actionmarguerite - St. Vital in her memory. The family is very grateful to the staff for the wonderful care and support provided to our mother and grandmother.
