After a courageous battle with Parkinsons, Bill Fedak, late resident of the Holy Family Nursing Home, passed away on Friday, October 1, 1999 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, at the age of 79 years and was the beloved husband of Marjorie of Winnipeg. Bill, the eldest son, was born on October 17, 1919 at the home of his parents in Sheho, Sask. He attended school in the same vicinity. In 1939 while furthering his education at Saskatoon Normal School, the war interrupted his studies. Bill volunteered to serve throughout, attained the rank of Captain and received an honourable discharge in 1945. He remained in the Reserve Force RCASC until 1953, and was promoted to the rank of Major. Bill had taken Officers Training at Royal Roads Military College in Kingston, Ont. and Megantic, Quebec. After attending the University of Edmonton, Bill met co-worker, Marjorie Delichte in 1947 during his employment in Edmonton at Revenue Canada. They married the following year in St. Alphonse, Man. and chose to settle in Winnipeg. For three years, Bill was employed as a Provincial Health Inspector and afterwards his tremendous drive and entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch many pursuits during self-employment, including a barber shop, deep involvement in commercial activities through an agency he named Linda Investments, food franchising and restaurant ownership. Bill never tired, always had another ace up his sleeve, and never ceased to stimulate a deal...right up until a few years ago when compiled complications from his illness began to take their toll. Even then, Dad accepted the challenge of switching to the Business of managing his health with the same passion he had exhibited in Commerce. Dad was an avid reader and always kept abreast of current events. He enjoyed camping, especially fishing, visiting and spending extra time with those he knew who were not well or lonely. Dad was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 141. Bill was very flexible and forgiving, always seeking to make peace after disagreements. He continually kept in touch with his children and they rallied with their choices and moves. He was a good provider and always offered sound advice. Bill never kindled a grudge and we were always accepted As Is, a magnificent gift, one we perhaps havent fully appreciated yet. Besides his loving wife Marjorie of 51 years of marriage, remaining to forever cherish Bills memory are his sons, Brian and Darcy of Winnipeg; daughter Linda Friesen (Ben) of Vancouver; grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew and Jessica of Winnipeg; four sisters, Mary Anderson, Anne Kirstiuk (William) Rose Johnson (Loring) Jean Perry (Robert) eight brothers, Steve (Carroll) Walter (Betty) Boris (Patricia) George (Ursula) John (Sarah) Morris (Grace) Brian (Merle) and Ted Fedak (Stella) uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Metro in October 1980 and by his mother, Natasia in June 1990. Inurnment will take place in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Holy Family Nursing Home and Seven Oaks General Hospital. Flowers are most gratefully declined. Those wishing may donate to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada (Winnipeg Chapter), 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, Man. R3A 1M5. Bills arrangements have been entrusted by his family to the care of: WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM in care of arrangements
