ALLAN RENE RIEL 1943-2022; Peacefully on February 3, 2022, with his family by his bedside, Allan "Tchikun" Riel was called home by his son Bryan.
Survived by his wife Wendy; sons, Robert (Lee Ann), Kevin (Marci); grandchildren, Courtney (Jeremy), Cameron (Rachelle), Joshua, Thomas and sisters, Anita and Claudette. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Adele and Maxime Riel; siblings, Joe, Origene, Mina, Rita, Yvonne and Doris.
He resided in St.Vital all his life and attended Norberry School and Glenlawn Collegiate. When his sons got into hockey, he became actively involved in Glenwood CC, St. Vital Minor and the St.Vital Major Junior Hockey Club. Al was always coaching, managing or watching from the stands at all the sporting events his boys or grandchildren were participating in. His passion was golfing, nothing better than the first tee on a cool, sunny morning.
Allan was proud to be Métis and great-nephew to Louis Riel.
Family meant everything to him, especially his marriage to Wendy and the birth of his sons and grandchildren.
As a family, we spent many years camping at Toniata Beach. Life long friends were made and he was nicknamed Big Al. Camping with the grandchildren on our "no rules, anything goes" weekend was full of love and laughter. His favourite names were Grampa and Papa.
We love you and you will
live in our hearts forever.
No service was held as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or one of your choice.
