      <p>Ramsey (county, Ontario) 9th February 1881, sold the farm to J. Mar...</p><p>Aution sale 21, February,</p><p>1st March, drew our baggage and filled our car.</p><p>2 March, took all the cows and six sheep and a span (team) of horses to Almonte to be ready for starting on 3rd of March.&nbsp; Left our home 2 March, spent the day in Almonte.</p><p>3 March left Almonte for Manitoba, bid goodbye to Mary and Bella and family and at Carleton Place, parted with William and family.&nbsp; Supper at Kingston.&nbsp; </p><p>4 Friday left Port Hope.&nbsp; All well.&nbsp; A heavy snow storm.&nbsp; Seen Lake Ontario.&nbsp; Got to Sarnia.&nbsp; </p><p>5 Saturday crossed Lake Huron on steam boat, all safe, snowing steady.</p><p>Sabbeth 6 in Chicago, all at work shoveling the snow on the cars to clear the streets.&nbsp; </p><p>7 Monday morning got to Milwakie, stopped all day.</p><p>8&nbsp;Tuesday stayed at village named Milwakie (a bit confusing here), next Watertown.&nbsp; </p><p>Wednesday 9, Lacrosse Village.&nbsp; All well. Got to St. Paul, passed a hard night.</p><p>Thursday 10 all well, nice clear morning.&nbsp; </p><p>Friday 11, going through Wisconsin, all well, very cold wind, got to Crookston, half-past ten, cars from this leave for Grand Forks.&nbsp; The stock not seen or fed for two days.&nbsp; All stock ahead got put on the express to try to catch up and got put off.&nbsp; Got to Emerson Thursday night 11th March.&nbsp; All well, found stock all right.&nbsp; Put up at Hotel Emerson.</p><p>12 Saturday got all off our car all right and met John and James on the Fridy night (not too clear) </p><p>12, took all to Mr. McDougals and rested.</p><p>Sabbeth 13.</p><p>Monday 14 bought a span of horses, paid 340$, three hundred and forty dollars, all cash, both black mares and bought a fanning mill 15$.&nbsp; Got all loaded and started at 3 o&#39;clock.&nbsp; James took us with our horses and left John and Mary and Robie with the two yolk of oxen and the new horses, all heavy loaded.</p><p>15 Tuesday started from Mennonite Village, go to Mountain City at night.</p><p>16 Wednesday, met James Metcalf, got to sod house, stayed all night.</p><p>17 Thursday go to (Bieger (or Bayer) stayed all night with batchelor.</p><p>18 Got to Pancake House for dinner and the Lariers Hotell.&nbsp; Stayed all night, seen the ??? mill.</p><p>19 Saturday, got all safe and well to Walter&#39;s for dinner and home to ??? (not clear) for supper.</p><p>20, Sabbeth, rested in our new home.</p><p>21 Monday, father and ??? went to the Land Titles Office, entered for our homestead and pre-emption.&nbsp; To 2 (township maybe) range 21.&nbsp; Got home for dinner.&nbsp; James started to meet John and the ____________ 1881. </p><p>1 April planted tomatoes, cabbage and rhubarb and Morning Glories.</p><p>April 10, father and Robie started plowing on James farm.&nbsp; Sent bag of sheat for Walter to sow on his land for us.&nbsp; </p><p>May 31 sowed oats in our garen on the ???????? don in Sept 1880.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
