VICTOR WISHNOWSKI, BORN: JAN 01, 1927, DATE OF PASSING: FEB 20, 2008; Surrounded by his family, Victor Wishnowski, aged 81 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the Gimli Community Health Centre. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Margaret and his children, John (Toni), Allan (Donna), Brenda (Drew), Bruce (Diane), and Rosanna (Paul). Dad will be forever cherished by his grandchildren whom he adored, Brittany and Ali, Hannah and Chelsea, Karli and Katie, Brent and Blaine. Also left to mourn his passing are his brothers, Ben, Walter, Emil (Edna); sisters, Nellie, Nettie, Sadie and Jean (Gordon); and his sister-in-law, Joan (Dennis). Victor will also be missed by many other close relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Adam and Mary Wishnowski, brothers Frank and Stanley, sisters Joyce and Stella, brothers and sisters-in-law Joe, Stanley, Jim, Anna, Nell, Begga, Sandra and Steffie. Victor was born January 1, 1927, on the family farm in Progress where he was raised. He continued farming as well as working at various bush camps during the winter months. Dad loved the simple things in life. He enjoyed working in his garden, cooking, music and dancing, reading, listening to the piano, and spending time with his family. Dad was a colourful character and everyone who really knew him knew the kindness and warmth within him. To celebrate Victor's life, a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverton Community Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. S.V. Patel and the wonderful nurses and staff at the Gimli Health Centre for the excellent care they gave to Dad and the support and kindness shown to us all. If so desired, donations in Victor's memory may be made to the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church or to the Riverton Community Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
