MADELEINE (nee BELLEC) BAZIN, DATE OF PASSING: NOV 14, 2023; Peacefully at the St. Claude Health Centre on November 14, 2023, Madeleine Bazin passed away at the age of 74 years.
She leaves to mourn her partner Kelly Dupasquier, her brothers Robert Bellec (Francine Deroche) and Michel Bellec (Monique Lamoureux), as well as the Bazin, Dupasquier and Bellec families.
Madeleine was predeceased by her husband Denis Bazin, her parents Albert and Adèle Bellec, and her sister Simone Dupasquier.
Madeleine was a highly respected member of the community having worked over 40 years of nursing first at the Notre Dame Hospital and then primarily at the St. Claude Hospital, often needing to assist in deliveries (including of those in her family) and other urgent or emergency situations without support from a physician due to the remote nature of these villages. She saved lives and enriched many others through her work. Madeleine also did so with her personality. Madeleine spread joy. She was selfless and generous, and had an uncanny ability to make those around her feel completely comfortable to be themselves. Additionally, Madeleine served on numerous volunteer initiatives in various roles including president of the St. Claude Residence for people living with developmental disability, and committee member for the St. Claude Ambulance, St. Claude Curling Rink, and as part of the group of volunteers organizing lunch and refreshments after funeral services in St. Claude. In her time, she helped to make St. Claude feel like home to many people. She will likely be best remembered for her warmth and kindness, her incredible hosting skills, her wit and sense of humour, her delicious cooking, her love of curling and her family, friends, and pets, and her stories from extensive travels that included every continent on Earth and most of its countries. Madeleine embodied strength, resilience, grace, and beauty, qualities that among others won her many friends and made her a central presence to her family. Dear Madly, you are now free from pain; rest peacefully. You will be sorely missed.
Special recognition to her niece, Carolyn Dupasquier, a nurse whom Madeleine inspired to become a nurse, for taking such excellent care of Madeleine during the later stages of her illness. The family would also like to thank the staff at the St. Claude Transitional Care Centre for their kindness and care during her stay.
Memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care at the St. Claude Health District Foundation (Box 338, St. Claude, MB, ROG 1Z0), CancerCare Manitoba, or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

A private family Graveside Service will take place at a later date.

Adam’s Funeral Home of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
