JOSEPH ANTONIO LACHAPELLE, BORN: MAR 21, 1930, DATE OF PASSING: MAR 21, 2009; After a lengthy illness and surrounded by his family, Joseph Lachapelle passed away at the Notre Dame Hospital on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the age of 78 years. Joe, son of Antonio and Louise Lachapelle was born March 21, 1930 in Deloraine, Manitoba. He married Madeleine Philippe on June 19, 1954. For many years, Joe and Madeleine worked together with his parents on the family farm, which they later purchased in 1968. Joe also worked part-time for the Rural Municipality of Grey as a grader operator for many years. In 1992, Joe and Madeleine retired and sold the family farm and moved to St. Claude. There they fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving into a new home built just for them. Joe took great pride in the appearance of their home and yard; while spending his leisure time fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a caring, loving husband, father and grandfather. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Madeleine (née Philippe). Also left to cherish his memory are his children: Diane (Réal) Dureault, Laurette (Rhéal) Gauthier, Lilliane (Robert) Rosset and Tony (Michelle) Lachapelle. He was a devoted grandfather of six grandchildren: Richard and Marc Gauthier, Michel and Ronald Rosset, Janelle and Braden Lachapelle. He is survived by his brother André (Noëla) Lachapelle and sisters Eva Dureault and Germaine Syrenne. Also left to mourn his passing is lifelong friend Laurent (Fatty) Syrenne. The family would like to thank all of the homecare workers and nurses at both the St. Claude Health Centre and Notre Dame de Lourdes Hospital. Also, thanks to Dr. Fickry, Dr. Viens and Dr. Hamilton for your excellent care during his illness. A very special thanks to nurse Roseline Prejet for all of your compassionate care in Joe's final hours. With respect for Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be held in the Haywood Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Recitation of the Rosary and Video Tribute at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. with Father Célestin Malengu Mubaya and Msgr. Roger Bazin officiating. MADELEINE MARIE CELINE LACHAPELLE (née PHILIPPE), DATE OF PASSING: SEP 12, 2018; It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom and memère on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the age of 84, at the St. Claude Health Centre. Madeleine lost her long battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy-a rare Neurodegenerative Disease). Her life revolved around her family and the abounding love she had for them all. Her strength and devotion to her family is beyond words. Although she endured many hardships, especially her PSP which was one of the greatest battles of her life, she persevered without complaint. Her SMILE was always there. She loved people, a good joke, a laugh and always a HUG. She was the kindest, gentlest person and the most loving, wonderful Mom and Memère. To know her was to LOVE her. Mom and Dad were married in St. Claude, MB on June 19, 1954. For many years they farmed in Haywood, MB. In 1992, they retired, sold the family farm and moved to St. Claude. Mom loved her new home, big yard and garden. It was a huge decision for her to move to the St. Claude Manoir due to her failing health. In 2016, when her illness progressed, she then moved to the St. Claude Health Centre where the staff and residents became her second family. Now that Mom and Dad are reunited together they will continue to watch over us and know the LOVE we carry for them in our hearts. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Diane (Réal) Dureault, Laurette (Rhéal) Gauthier, Lilliane (Robert) Rosset and Tony Lachapelle. She was a devoted Memère to her grandchildren, Richard (Adell), Marc (Melissa), Mitch (Tamara), Ron (Kelsey), Janelle, Braden, Abi and Edelawit; her great-grandchildren, Allie and Logan. She also leaves to mourn her sister Therèse (André) Theroux; her in-laws, Lucienne Philippe, Eva Dureault, Germaine Syrenne and Noella Lachapelle, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Madeleine was predeceased by her beloved husband Jos Lachapelle in 2009; her parents, Yves and Jeanne Philippe; her in-laws, Antonio and Louise Lachapelle; her siblings, Gabrielle (Georges) Boille, Yvonne (Gérard) Labossiere, Emile Philippe, Gustave (Odette) Philippe, Noël Philippe and Helene (Raymond) Ferrand, as well as her in-laws, André Lachapelle, Jules Dureault and Jacques Syrenne. The family would like to thank the excellent staff at the St. Claude Health Centre, L'Abbé Bazin, Soeur Cécile, Annette Henderson and Corinne Bernard. Also thank-you to Dr. Gisèle Viens for Mom's excellent care during her illness. The family is also very appreciative of the visits Mom received from friends and relatives during her stay at the Health Centre. With respect to Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at the Haywood Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Eulogy and Video Tribute at 1:30 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. with Father Armand LeGal officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the PSP Society of Canada, St. Claude Health Centre or St. Claude Handivan. Reposes toi chère Maman, tu seras dans nos coeurs pour toujours! Adam's Funeral Home of Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB in care of arrangements.
