GORDON MARSHALL PURVIS September 21, 1921 to September 20, 2000 Suddenly on September 20, 2000, Gordon Marshall Purvis passed away in the loving arms of his wife Eva at their residence at Clear Lake. Gordon also leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Evelyn (husband Ron) Povey, Debbie (husband Garth) Jackson; and six grandchildren, Jana-Leigh Povey, Daralyn Povey, Mathew Povey, Derek Jackson, Kayla Jackson and Allissa Jackson. Gordon was born on September 21, 1921 to George Purvis and Evelyn Purvis (nee Davis) in Treherne, MB. He grew up near Holland, MB, and met Eva Daudet while he was in training at No. 8 Repair Depot as a member of the R.C.A.F. They married on December 18, 1943 only days before Gordon was sent overseas. He served two years in Europe and returned to Winnipeg after the war. He briefly drove bus for Winnipeg Electric. He then set up a business, Victoria Motors, in Holland, before becoming a sales representative for Anglo Oil and then Western Service Manager for General Motors. Returning to Brandon in 1962, he ran the Bus Terminal and Maxwell House Restaurant for 17 years until his retirement in 1979. Afterwards, Eva and Gordon enjoyed summers at Clear Lake and winters at Mesa, Arizona. He was an avid shuffleboard player and organiser, recently being named to the Arizona Shuffleboard Hall of Fame for his years of achievement, good character, fidelity, performance and good sportsmanship. Such terms are a fitting tribute to the way Gordon lived his life. A memorial service was held at Brockie Donovan on September 23 in Brandon. If friends so desire, charitable donations may be made in Gordon's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
