CLAUDETTE MAGNE, Date of Passing: Jun 24, 2011; The family of Mrs. Claudette M. Magne (nee Rocan), aged 64 years, of Whitewater Golf Community, announce with great sadness that Claudette passed away suddenly but peacefully at her residence on Friday, June 24, 2011. Claudette was born in 1947 in St. Claude, Manitoba and grew up and was educated there. She married Denis Magne, the love of her life in 1970 and together they raised their three children, Claudia, Greg and Stephane in Winnipeg, Terrace Bay and Thunder Bay. Claudette lived life to the fullest. Her family was always most important to her but she enjoyed socializing with friends, boating on Lake Superior with Denis, playing bridge (even online with friends from all over the world), curling with the ladies at the Port Arthur and Fort William Curling Clubs, mixed curling with Denis at Kakabeka, golfing at Whitewater, decorating her beautiful home, shopping, visiting the Casino and travelling. Claudette was very involved in community activities and was loved by everyone whose life she touched. She was an avid volunteer and fundraiser for many charities including the Schizophrenia Society, The Shelter House, The Dew Drop Inn, the Hope Classic and the Craig Kielburger Foundation. For her efforts she was awarded the Woman of the Year award by Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, an award by the National Schizophrenia Society and the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 2009. She was also a mentor and super supporter of local talent. Her vim, vigour and vitality were legend, and her many friends christened her The Queen of Air Miles . Claudette will be lovingly remembered by her mother Rose Rocan (nee Bernard); her husband Denis; her children, Greg (Anne) of Toronto, Claudia of Calgary and Stephane of Vancouver (all presently here); her sisters, Odile (Denis) and Carole (Ken) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. She was predeceased by her father Ghislain and her brother Gilbert. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27 at the Blake Funeral Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:00 p.m. lead by Rev. Ciaran Donnelly. A celebration of Claudette's life will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Whitewater Golf Course. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church in St. Claude, Manitoba on Thursday, June 30 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Marcel Carriere officiating, followed by interment in the Parish Cemetery. She will be sadly missed and will live forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire a donation may be made to the Schizophrenia Society or a charity of their choice. Adam's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
