MARIE EVELINE JEANNETTE RIEL (LAMBERT), BORN: JAN 12, 1933, DATE OF PASSING: JUN 24, 2022; Peacefully, Marie joined her husband Marcel, son Denis, grandson baby Lloyd, parents, Joseph and Emma Lambert, 12 siblings and other family members in heaven on June 24 at the age of 89.
Marie leaves to cherish her memory, son Joe (Lianne) and daughter Kim Houle, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and sisters-in-law, Claudette Doyle and Marguerite Lambert.
Marie's legacy is of a caring, loving lady who touched so many with her kindness and support. She gave her all and expected nothing in return. Her sense of humour, compassion and hardworking nature left a lasting impression. Marie's early years were in St. Boniface, where she cared for her older brother Denis who was suffering from a long-term illness. The family moved to St. Vital and Marie married Marcel in 1955, where they lived and cared for her parents, and raised their children in a loving home. Mom's love of travel resulted in memorable camping trips throughout Canada and the U.S. In later years Marie worked at Great West Life, and in retirement moved to a Niakwa Road apartment complex and then to her residence at Accueil Columbien, making cherished new friendships throughout this chapter of her life before taking ill. Marie's involvement in the church and over 55 years as a member of the choir brought her much joy.
Mom, your goodness will live in our hearts forever.
Thanks to all of the staff at Victoria Hospital and Middlechurch Personal Care Home for their excellent support. Special thanks to Marie's precious niece, Monique Vincent (Lambert) for her compassionate and devoted care of our mother over the last nine months. Monique's daily visits were critical to enhancing Marie's quality of life during these trying times.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 6 at St. Eugene Church, 1009 St. Mary's Road. The eulogy will be at 10:15 a.m. with the service to follow.
