JEROME (JERRY) WHAI CHONG AFOON, BORN: JUL 20, 1938, DATE OF PASSING: OCT 18, 2007; Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Jerome (Jerry) Whai Chong Afoon passed away on October 18, 2007 at 7:39 p.m. after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's and Cancer. He is survived by his wife Cathy (nee Rankel), children, Brandy and Sean Afoon (Colleen, Alex, Matthew, Keely); first wife Barb; father-in-law Fred Rankel; brothers, Archie, Steven and sister Teresa from Trinidad, W.I. and numerous family members in the West Indies and U.S. He was predeceased by brothers, Sam and Edgar, parents, John Afoon and Carmen Magloire. Jerry was born in Piarco, Trinidad on July 20, 1938. He came to Canada in 1967 and found employment in the fast food industry and health care before finding his long term position with C.N. Rail. He married his second wife Cathy on September 20, 1984 and made many life long friends in his various hobbies which include body building, fishing, music, photography, going to the casino, story telling, cooking and travelling to such places as Rio, Hawaii, Mexico, Vegas, Jamaica, Trinidad and Florida. You were always there when we needed you No task too great or small With a loving heart and a willing hand For us you did it all Thank you for the years you've given us And for the time we shared We only pray that when you left us You knew how much we cared. Special thanks to Ralph, Sheila, Lisa, Sean, Cyril, Mark, Joe, Janet, Shirley, Rosanna. Very special thanks to CancerCare and Homecare nurses, especially Dastin, Darryl and Pam. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to CancerCare Manitoba or the Parkinson's Society. Memorial will be held at Glen Eden, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul on Thursday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m.
