Peacefully, at the Foyer Notre-Dame, Mr. René Badiou passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the age of 87 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Richard (Jacqueline) Badiou, Lucille (Rick) Mangin, Jacqueline (Rick) Moller, Carole Badiou, Marc Wahl and daughter-in-law Lisa Klotz-Wahl; his grandchildren, Patrick (Stacy) Badiou, Stephanie (René) Lesage, Anique Badiou (Bryn), Chélyne Badiou (Adam), Liane (Michel) Poiron, Dana (Brett) Falk, Kristel (Patrick) Jamault, Dylan Mangin (Jenilyn), Christopher Moller, Anthony Moller and Chelsea Wahl; his great-grandchildren, Emma, Owen, Jordyn, Ashlyn, Jayde, Kloe, Lexie, Élyse, Anique, Zac, Bennett and Frankie. He also leaves to mourn his sister Cécile (Roméo) Delaquis and in-laws, Odile Badiou, Lucien Pelé, Suzanne (Harold) Turnbull, Yvonne Pelé and Colette Pelé, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
René was predeceased by his wife Alice Badiou (née Pelé), grandchildren Nicholas and Felisha Wahl; his brothers and sisters, Antoinette (Roland) Brouzes, Denise (Raymond) Avanthay, Lionel (Suzanne) Badiou and Gérard Badiou; his in-laws, Thérèse (Jean) Le Neal, Constance (Albert) Julien, Joseph Pelé, Agnès (Léon) Comte, Simone (Albert) Monchamp, Cécile (Roland) Bazin, Meinrad Pelé and Raymonde Pelé.
René will be remembered for many years as he contributed to his community as a volunteer ambulance driver, volunteer firefighter, member of the town council and hall committee for many years where he helped with the maintenance of the park and called bingo. He was also a member of the “chevaliers de colomb”, drove school bus, owned and operated the Badiou Mini-Stop, worked as power engineer at Notre-Dame Hospital and Foyer and was an avid Hawks and Clubs fan. Above all his family will remember him as a man who was always smiling and loved to make people laugh. His grandkids will remember his famous quote “Behave. And if you can’t behave, be careful.”
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Notre Dame Park payable to Municipality of Lorne, Box 89, Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB R0G 1M0.
