JEAN (JOHNNY) DESROSIERS, BORN: MAR 30, 1941, DATE OF PASSING: MAY 16, 2019; It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jean (Johnny) Desrosiers on Thursday, May 16, 2019.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Edith (nee Preteau), his children, Marie-Lynne (Gérald Catellier), Marc (Paulette), Joël (Gaye), Gaby, Annick (Mike Murray) and Janelle (Dereck Heppner), 16 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Léonne, Céline, Jeanne, Simone, Bertille, Estelle, Paul, Robert and Guy. Jean is predeceased by his parents, Emilien and Ernestine Desrosiers as well as his siblings, Therèse, Marie, Claire, Yvette and Maurice.
Jean was born and raised on the family homestead (Lot 89), in St. Malo. He married the love of his life Edith on November 3, 1962. He started working early in life as a Heavy Equipment Operator, then went on to the Provincial Park of St. Malo for 25 years. Among those years he also had a cow/calf operation. He was a School Trustee for many years, Board Member of Caisse Populaire St. Malo, served on the Chateau Malouin Board as well as the Board for the Manitoba Métis Federation, representing the South East Region, which became his passion.
He also loved deer hunting at the "montagne", had fond memories of moose hunting at Porcupine Mountain with hunting partners, Guy and Stan. In the past few years, he went elk hunting at Turtle Mountain with hunting partner Marcel. He also had numerous fishing trips with family and friends.
A funeral service was held at Paroisse St. Malo on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Dominic LaFleur officiating. Interment of ashes was held immediately after the service.
We would like to thank Dr. Mahmood Nasir and all the staff at the St. Pierre Hospital and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the best care.
