The story has been brought forward to this site as follows:
1906 Mamie Rebecca McIntosh married Golden Thompson. Golden was a businessman having stores in various places and they homesteaded in Montana. They had four children, Doris Naomi Thompson 08/20/1907, Bruce Goldie Thompson 11/5/1908, Dale Lawrence Thompson 01/24/1912 and Phoebe Ann 04/05/1918. Mamie was expecting her fifth child in 1919 when a flu epidemic swept through the area. The baby and Mamie both died during childbirth. The four children were left orphaned since their father Golden said to have went to pieces and disappeared from their lives and was never heard from again. After his death his oldest daughter Doris received notification that he had died in Los Angeles County in 1941 after having bladder surgery. His death certificate gave his age as 62 years. The four orphaned children were taken in by their grandmothers. Doris and Bruce went to live with Sarah Turner-Thompson-Lewis (their father’s mother)
