He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Harriett; sisters, Elsi".e and Ellen; brothers, Thomas and Ronald. He is survived by his loving wife Marianne; sons, Andy (Ruby), Charlie (Maura) and daughter Cathy Blyth; grandchildren, Richard, Corey, Marianne, Caitlin, Ciera, and Shannon; brothers, Elmer, Edward (Marie) of Winnipeg, and Edwin (Norma) of Stony Plain, AB; sister-in-law Shirley Nicholson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Inwood, MB., August 15, 1934. He spent his youth in Winnipeg Beach, moving to Winnipeg in 1952 when he started working at Manitoba Telephone System. He worked at MTS for 37 years, retiring in 1989. Dad, an unwavering Toronto Maple Leaf fan, volunteered his time in the Fort Rouge community as a coach, sports director and hockey convener. Dad was an avid bowler and participated in several leagues. He was also an avid fisherman and loved the challenge of a game of cards both of which he enjoyed from his cabin at Lac Du Bonnet. He was also a member of Rockwood A.N. & A.F., Unit 303, and Ancient Landmark Lodge No. 3 A.F & A.M. The family is grateful for the kindness, support and care given to Dad while he was at home and to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital during his brief stay. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd, with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Andy Fredborg, Charlie Fredborg, Corey Fredborg, Marianne Fredborg, Richard Blyth, and Kevin Fredborg.
