JOSEPH PAUL WAZNY; BORN: APR 01, 1922; DATE OF PASSING: FEB 27, 2011; Peacefully on February 27, 2011, with his family by his side, Joseph, age 88 years went home into the loving arms of the Lord. Dad will be remembered and missed by his wife of 47 years, Eugenie (Nieroda); his daughters Denise, Sandra (Jim) and Charlene; grandchildren Nicole, Brett and Matthew; sisters Kay Galka, Jean Cook and Helen Medeiros (Manuel); sisters-in-law Ann Wazny, Carole Nieroda, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, John and Josephine; brothers Michael, Frank, John, Martin, Steve, Casmir, Edward, and sister Mary. Joseph was born and raised in Cook Creek, MB. He worked on the family farm until serving in the armed services during the Second World War. Having little education his hard work ethic encouraged him to move into larger centers both out west and east. He learned various skills until finally moving back to Winnipeg where he mastered the trade of drywall taping for 45 years. Our father's happiest moments in life were in simple pleasures such as gardening, helping his children with home repairs and being close to his grandchildren. He loved working with his hands and was lucky enough to be active well into his 80s. Dad had a kind heart and was grateful for his family. He will be forever missed and our lives will enriched by the values and lessons lovingly taught throughout our lives. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Concordia Hospital and Home Care for their compassion and continued support. A celebration of Joseph's life will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Dr. Following a reception, interment will be at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers are his nephews Garry Wazny, Ron Wasnie, Michael Galka, Edward Nieroda, Paul Kernoski and his son-in-law Jim Hendrickson. If friends so desire, donations can be made to Holy Redeemer Building Fund, or to a charity of one's choice. WIECZNY ODPOCZYNNEK RACZ MU DAC, PANIE CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements
