It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "After a long and fulfilling life Adeline Chorney peacefully passed away in her 95th year, on Friday, October 28, 2016, at the Tudor Personal Care Home. Adeline was predeceased by her husband Anton. She is missed by her daughter Gladys (Frank) Simon".s, grandson Michael (Marilyn), great granddaughters Abigail and Victoria; daughter Lillian (Brian) Kazuk, grandson Robert (Rosie), and granddaughter Jill; son Doug (Michelle) Chorney, granddaughter Erin (Nathan). Adeline was born August 11, 1921 in Highland Glen, Manitoba to Bill and Mary Zaborniak. She is survived by her sister Stella (Joe - deceased) Chorney and sisters-in-law Karoline Zaborniak and Stella (John - deceased) Chorney and predeceased by her brother Andrew, sisters Francis Burbella and Mary Rosmus. Mom married Anton Chorney on June 28, 1941 and began an epic-farming career that took them on a lifetime commitment that now seems timeless in scope. Adeline and Anton shared their vision for family, farm and community with everyone they touched. All who became part of their journey felt the energy and enthusiasm that became part of daily life. Mom loved her garden, flowers and landscaping projects. Skills developed over her life brought local, provincial and national attention. Adeline contributed to a successful farming operation, participating in every aspect of the farm business with skill and vision. This was a true partnership in life and business that brought them great success and happiness. Many opportunities to promote agriculture became commonplace in their life and this led to many submissions of table potatoes to the Royal Winter Fair's in Brandon and Toronto. As award winning potato growers Mom and Dad gained much notoriety among their piers. Being inducted into the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2010 as a couple was a very proud moment for Adeline. Her only regret was not having Dad by her side as she made her acceptance speech at age 88. A large part of Adeline's life involved growing vegetables and fruit to sell at the farm store. The friendships developed over the years became a big part of her life and many people came to see Adeline as part of their family summer experience. We are grateful for the many well wishes and support in recent years. The last four and one half years for Mom were spent at the Tudor Personal Care Home. The care and love given to Mom during her many health challenges made it possible for her to have some fun and dignity at a time of life when it was most difficult. The family thanks all the caregivers as well as the physicians that monitored and cared for Mom, Dr. Habtu Demsas and Dr. Rick Lindenschmidt. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 at the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in the memory of Adeline to the Selkirk and District Community Foundation - Community Fund, 200 Eaton Ave., Selkirk, MB, R1A 0W6 or online through endowmanitoba.ca Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

      It is described as "id-52177".

It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of Anthony Robert Chorney on May 9, 2000 at the Selkirk & District General Hospital.".

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Adeline; daughters, Gladys (Frank) Simons, Lillian (Brian) Kazuk; son Doug (Michelle) and grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Jill and Erin. Also brothers, James (Frances), Mike (Sophie), Joe (Stella), John (Stella) and sister Stella, with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Nellie and sisters, Mary and Carrie.

Anton was born November 1, 1915 and was a lifelong resident of East Selkirk. His early accomplishments were in plowing matches winning the Grand Aggregate Honours in 1938. He won a scholarship to attend the Diploma Course in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba in 1939-40.

Anton has farmed in East Selkirk all his life and specialized in growing seed wheat and world-renowned seed and table potatoes which brought home six international championships thus became known as the Potato King.

Home and family were Anton's pride and were a limitless source of love, comfort and happiness. Anton and Adeline won numerous awards for the best farm-home grounds at the local level alongside provincial championships in 1973. In 1976 Anton was crowned Mr. Manitoba Farmer, an appropriate citation for a man whose achievements were an ongoing project.

He served as a member of the Manitoba Seed Growers Association, director of the Vegetable Growers Association of Manitoba, director of the Agricultural Society and member of the Selkirk Hospital Board. He received an honorary life membership from the Vegetable Growers Association of Manitoba in 1992. Anton was granted an honorary life membership to the East Selkirk Volunteer Fire Department in 1980 for his instrumental work in its establishment. He was a founding member since 1967.

From a combination of time-honoured tradition and bare necessity, there grew an intimate relationship between him and the land. In the beaver dams, the songs of birds, or the shapes of pinecones. Anton had an eye and mind for the details of nature which most would ignore. Anton enjoyed sharing his predictions and became known as the "Weather forecaster from East Selkirk".

The family would like to express their humble and heartfelt recognition and appreciation to the doctors and nurses in the Medical Unit at the Selkirk and District Hospital as well as home care services.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk, MB on Saturday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Jerry Talarski officiating. Interment will follow at the East Selkirk Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Sternat, David Chorney, Murray Chorney, Maurice Burbella, David Zayac and John Kuzminski.
