Peter passed away at 7:42 p.m. on Tuesday, February 29, 2000. He was 83 years of age. He was the son of Barbara and Kost Wasylik. Peter was born at Brokenhead, Man., on September 12, 1916. He attended school, helped on the farm, and trucked until he went into the army, Second World War, 1943 - 1946. Peter married Stella Chorney on June 5, 1947. He bought grain for Manitoba Pool Elevators for 17 years in Arborg, Man. Peter and Stella owned a motel in Swan River, Man. for five years, 1966 - 1971. He then worked as a pulpwood buyer for Abitibi Price for nine years until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, travelling and visiting. He served as treasurer for All Saints Parish for five years. Peter served on the local and provincial Boards of the Credit Union for 25 years. He treasured his children and family. Dads sense of humour, wit and touch of obstinance are fondly remembered and also shared by his children, Barry and Brenda. Peter is survived by his loving wife Stella; son Barry (Pauline) daughter Brenda; and adoptive grandchildren, Stephanie and Craig Slepicka (Bonnie and Ron) brother William (Eleanor) sisters-in-law, Sophie and Anne Wasylik; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Paul in 1942; sisters, Mary in 1972, Anne in 1986; brothers, John in 1991, Mike in 1991; and sister Pearl in 1996. Cremation took place, then funeral services were held from the All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church in Swan River on Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m., with Msgr. Michael Boyachek officiating. Interment followed in the Birchwood Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd., 363 Kelsey Trail (Hwy. 10 North), Swan River. 734-5775. Dad Weve known this time was coming for so very long, And even though its here it just doesnt belong. We know the pain and suffering you lived through, We want you back with us, we wanted you to stay; We just wanted the pain and suffering to go away, Your pain left you ragged, a poor worn out man. You worked so hard for so many years with just one thought in mind, To help your children as they grew, a wonderful father like you, no one will ever again find. We gave you our love, it was all we could give, And we know that it helped, that it helped you to live, Now your aching body has stopped living its life, Here left on this earth are your children and wife, And youre up in Heaven with the Lord above, We will love and miss you forever dear dad.
