      Described as: My mother never knew her grandmother's maiden name. Her family thought it was Moret. Her legal name was found in the books kept in the Communes de Vuadens and confirmed in the Fribourg Archives.

      The story has been brought forward to this site as follows:

      Mariette arrived in Canada on the SS Toronto on May 18, 1982.  She was accompanied by her children from her first marriage to the late Julien Moret of Vuadens, Fribourg, Switzerland -her son Julien Moret, her daughter Emma Moret with her husband Appolinaire Deillon, as well as her children from her second marriage to Jules Deforel of Vuadens also - daughter Marie Deforel, and her sons, Xavier and Fernand Deforel.  They travelled from the eastern Canada port of arrival to Notre-Dame-de-Lourdres (Manitoba, Canada) to joined Jules Deforel, her husband, who had arrived a year earlier.
      Her tombstone in the St. Claude (Manitoba) Cemetery indicates she was 80 yrs. old at the time of her death.
