MICHAEL BILAN, BORN: SEP 17, 1904, DATE OF PASSING: JAN 26, 2001; Passed away peacefully on January 26, 2001 at the Betel Home in Selkirk, Michael Bilan, aged 96 years of Matlock, Man. Mike was born at Whytewold Beach on September 17, 1904. He moved with his parents to the farm at Matlock where he worked hard and farmed all his life. He had been a resident at the Betel Home for the past three years. Mike was a self taught fiddle player and enjoyed playing with his friends. He also found a hobby, having old cars and spent many hours repairing them and driving them. He was a good friend to his many neighbours and friends. Mike leaves surviving many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by his parents, Katharina and Jurko (George) sisters, Justina, Maria, Polly, Jessie and Annie and brothers, Pat and Fred. He will be missed by his family, friends and his dear friend and neighbour, Fred Ronge and family. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Interment will follow in the St. Georges Cemetery, Wakefield. A heartfelt thanks to the Betel Home nursing staff for all their care and compassion shown to Michael. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
