GUY MORIER, BORN: SEP 25, 1910, DATE OF PASSING: JAN 16, 2007; At the Taché Centre on January 16, 2007, at age 96, beloved husband of the late Béatrice Painchaud and the late Marie Pattyn. He will be greatly missed by his loving children, Pauline, Louise (Dr. Ernest Letourneau), Pierre; his cherished grandchildren, Sofie (Sean Bruce), Benoit (Nathalie Dupont) Morier, their mother Nicole Dupéré; Charles (Alexis Gerlach), Alix (Jason Pyne) Letourneau; his precious great-grandsons, Tristan Letourneau, Cesar Bruce; his devoted brothers, Marcel, Paul (Juliette Tytgat); sister-in-law Françoise (late Denis Morier), several nephews and nieces. Predeceased by another brother Antonin, as well as his sisters-in-law, Francine (Marcel) and Florence (Paul). Guy was born in St. Vital, Manitoba on September 25, 1910. He was always interested in his children and grandchildren's activities and was very involved in his community: 32 years with the Kiwanis and Knights of Columbus, volunteer for 22 years with Meals on Wheels, usher at St. Boniface Cathedral, member of the St. Vital Historical Society, generous contributor to the Morier fund at the Centre du Patrimoine de St. Boniface, and active participant in the Festival du Voyageur. He is also remembered for skating the Rideau Canal at 79, sailing on Lake Ontario at 90, and for his love of canoeing on the Seine with Pierre till age 94. Guy was also an active member of Save our Seine. Guy was active till the end, touring the streets of St. Boniface and Winnipeg on his scooter with the boys, his brothers. Funeral mass will be held at the St. Boniface Cathedral on Wednesday, January 24 at 10:30 a.m. with a gathering of family and friends to follow. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Taché Centre for their kind and compassionate care. Memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
