      He leaves to mourn his eight children: Doris Fay, Fern Picton (Kathleen Bell), Jackie (Dennis) Major, Andrea (Robert) Van Damme, Leonie (Ken) Cabernel, Norbert (Lucette), Lorraine Picton (Marcel Hardy), Richard (Lianne) Picton and daughter-in-law Joanne Picton, his 25 grandchildren: Micheline, Rachelle, Normand, Gilbert, Gabriel, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Jeremy, Andrew, Joanna, Jason, Tracy, Bryson, Curtis, Ashley, James, Michel, Nicholas, Nicole, Dylan, Logan, Taryn, Cody, Kieran and Mason and 35 great-grandchildren.
      He also leaves to mourn his brother Edmond Picton and sisters, Pauline Picton, Louise (Denis) Rosset and Hélène Drobko as well as his in-laws, Hélène Picton, Rita Painchaud and Ida (Dave) Heindricks as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
      Michel was predeceased by his wife Cécile Picton (née Poirier), his son Alain Picton in 2000, his daughter Lucille at infancy, his son-in-law Gerald Fay, his parents, Michel and Anais Picton, his brothers and sisters, Denis, Marie (Albert) Rosset, Robert, Elie, George (Muriel), Louis, and his in-laws, Omer, Rose Aimé, Simone, Omer, Denise and Gérard.
      Dad was born in Haywood on November 3, 1927. He was the oldest of 13 children. He married Mom in 1951 and farmed for a few years and then worked on the pipeline as a welder. Michel and Cécile lived in Virden for a time before moving to Haywood and then eventually to Somerset where they lived for the majority of their lives. In Somerset, he helped to move houses with Pantel’s, then BA Oil, and then he worked for the Village of Somerset as the Superintendent, Water Treatment Plant operator, as well as special constable working with the RCMP. He was a jack of all trades, a Knight of Columbus, an Elk and served on many boards in the Somerset Community. Michel was an active member at the Notre Dame de la Nativité Catholic Church in Somerset for many years and will be missed. He enjoyed being with his large family, having nine children, 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He has left a large memorable legacy.
      Funeral Service will be held in Haywood, Manitoba at the St. Denis Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Father Marcel Carrière and Father Peter Le Van Ngu. Interment in the Haywood Parish Cemetery to follow.
