It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "HENRIETTE ROCAN (née LEMOINE), DATE OF PASSING: FEB 18, 2009; With the same strength and courage that exemplified her life, Henriette Yvonne Rocan (née Lemoine) passed into the arms of God on Thursday, February 18, 2009 at the age of 85. She will b".e lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Donald (Betty-Ann), Joanne (Marc), and Suzanne (Mark); her grandchildren Jocelyne (Mark), Jean-Guy (Shannon), Patrick and Kevin; as well as her great-grandsons Hudson, Vincent, and Micah. She also leaves to mourn her brothers Jean (Andrée), Henri (Brenda), and Sam (Irene) as well as her many nieces and nephews, their families, members of the Rocan family and her many close friends. Henriette was predeceased by her husband Guy in 1971, her sister Jeanne in 2003 and her parents Antoinette (née Thibault) and Edgar. Henriette was born in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba in 1923. She attended school and studied piano with the Sisters of the Holy Name for 12 years. Following Teacher's College in Winnipeg, she began her career as an elementary school teacher in Somerset where she met Guy. They married in 1947, living briefly in Homewood before moving to Winnipeg and starting their family. While the children were growing up, Henriette substituted in the Norwood and St. Boniface school divisions, taking university courses whenever time permitted. Following Guy's early death in 1971, she returned to full time teaching over the next 19 years as a music specialist. Henriette graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba in 1980 and undertook graduate studies thereafter. She retired in June of 1989. Henriette loved travelling. She made many trips to California to visit her sister Jeanne, enjoyed weekend trips to Grand Forks and Fargo and had special memories of her excursions to Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. She enjoyed attending exercise classes on a regular basis, spending time in her yard, and playing the piano. Nothing was more precious to Henriette than the joy she received from her family and friends. Everyone knew that if you went to visit Henriette, there would be much laughter, music, and food. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc St. with Rev. Fr. Martin Bradbury presiding. A private family urn placement will take place at Green Acres Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion over the last three months. We are also thankful to Dr. Roy Smith, Dr. Chris Bourque, St. Boniface General Hospital staff, Day Hospital staff, and Home Care workers for the care they have provided to Henriette. A special thank you to the many friends and family who called, visited and assisted Henriette in her time of need and gave her strength and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henriette's memory to a charity of your choice.
