JEANNINE MARIE ANNETTE PREJET (BARTEN), BORN: JAN 24, 1938, DATE OF PASSING: AUG 23, 2005; It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Jeannine on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at the age of 67 at St. Boniface Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Alban; her three daughters, Liette (Louis St-Cyr), Joanne (Glenn Joyal), Lynn (Glenn Williams); her eight grandchildren, Genevieve, Janique, Eric, Marc, Sara, Sophie, Emma, Philippe; as well as numerous family members and friends. Jeannine was born on January 24, 1938 in Winnipeg, MB. She graduated from Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB and then entered Normal School. She taught at a number of schools in the St. Boniface School Division. She returned to her studies at the University of Manitoba while she was working full-time and raising her three daughters. It was there that she received her Bachelor of Arts (1969), her Bachelor of Education (1972) as well as her Masters of Education (1977). She will always be remembered for her dedication, her determination and her desire for new challenges and adventures. It was these qualities that led to her various positions as resource teacher, guidance counsellor and principal. She married her high school sweetheart Alban on July 25, 1959. They enjoyed travelling together, curling, golfing, going to their cottage, preparing wonderful meals, entertaining friends and family. No recipient of Alban and Jeannine's generosity will soon forget the joie de vivre that was so much part of their approach to life and to their guests. Prayers will be held on Friday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens, 289 Dussault Ave., with Fr. Marcel Toupin presiding. As a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and educator, Jeannine taught us all, usually by steady example. Yet no life lesson will ever be more inspiring and poignant than her demonstration of faith and courage in the face of the illness that took her from us. Her lessons and love will be with us forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannine's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 (787-4143).
