He is survived by his loving family wife, Marie; children, Debra, Kevin, and Tammy; grandchildren, Travis (Kerry), Brandi, and Kristen (Adam); great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Carter; son-in-law, Jim; as well as sisters-in-law, Marianne, Norma, June, Dora and Fran; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was born on July 10, 1929, in Regina, Saskatchewan, and moved to Winnipeg Beach with his family, where he attended school, got his first job, and met Marie. After marrying in 1951, Ed and Marie lived in Winnipeg Beach until moving in 1963 to Gimli. Ed worked on the Gimli Air Force Base in Supply for Department of National Defence, from the early 1950s until it closed in 1971. The family then moved to Winnipeg, where Ed worked for Transport Canada until his retirement in 1989. Ed enjoyed the simple things in lifetaking Marie and the kids for a Sunday drive, often stopping to visit family or friends, watching Hockey Night in Canada, looking after the yard and puttering in his garage, curling, hunting, barbeques, and just enjoying a beer with the guys. Ed played hockey for the Gimli Wolves in his teens and 20s. He passed along his skills to his sons and grandson, and was very proud to coach them when they played for the Cheyenne Flames. Ed was very dedicated to his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand, or share a laugh, and never lost his zest for life. Dad, we honour your honesty and integrity. Thank you for enriching our lives with your love, encouragement, wisdom and infectious sense of humour. You are in our thoughts and hearts forever. The family wishes to thank everyone at Oakview Place, especially the staff on 1 East, for the kindness, care and compassion they gave to our Dad.
