ELIZABETH ANN (BETTY) TEILLET (DAWSON), BORN: OCT 08, 1923, DATE OF PASSING: JUN 02, 2018; ELIZABETH ANN (BETTY) TEILLET (nee DAWSON) Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Teillet passed peacefully, in her sleep, in the early hours of June 2, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Betty was born on October 8, 1923 in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). At the age of four, she was sent off to Upper Chine boarding school on the Isle of Wight where she would remain throughout her school years, never again going home. After graduation she was offered secret work by the Royal Air Force and she leapt at the chance, much to the dismay of her parents who had expected her to go to Cambridge. And so she went off to "spy school" where they taught her, among other things, to lie to her family and friends about what she was doing. It was during the war that she met and married the love of her life, a young Canadian airman from Winnipeg named Ted Teillet. After the war they moved to Winnipeg and settled in St. Vital and Betty focused on raising a family. When Ted died suddenly, leaving her with five children, she picked up her life, went back to school and found work first at the University of Winnipeg and later at Health Sciences Centre in Medical Records where she was a supervisor. Betty was always a mother first. And an amazing mum she was. She raised five children and saw to it that all of us went off to university. Upon retirement, she volunteered tirelessly for many years with Agape Table, Amnesty International, and Habitat for Humanity, to name just a few. Betty was predeceased by her husband Ted Teillet, her sister Eleanor Dawson, and her daughter-in-law Anne Parke. She leaves to mourn, her children: David Teillet, Lea Girman (Lloyd), Anne Muir (Doug), Rob Teillet and Marc Teillet (Lynn Crawford); grandchildren: Gillian Teillet (Dave Reimer), Greg Teillet, Jordan Girman (Ashleigh McTavish-Wisden), Jared Girman (Christine Muckle), Josh Girman (Ashleigh Hall), Erin Wilson (Kevin), Dave Muir (Allison Pell), Matt Muir (Michelle), Sarah Teillet and Evan Teillet; great-grandchildren: Kailey, Connor, Lauren, Riley, Cole, June, Madeleine, Lila, Hannah and Penny; sisters-in-law: Marie Thorimbert and Kathy Teillet; and many loving nieces and nephews. As per Betty's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a quiet family interment. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest that donations be made to Agape Table, or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, or the charity of your choice. We hold such deep gratitude for all the amazing staff at Victoria Hospital. For everything you've done for Betty and for us over the past few weeks, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
