Peacefully at 101 and six months, Yvonne passed away at the Riverview Health Centre. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Roger, his wife Liliane, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Joel (Tiffany), Roxanne (Colin) Lachance, Martin (Elena), Christian (Catherine), Natalie (Glenn Yu); Jessica, Seraphie, Josée and Adam Lachance, Tatiana, Sasha, Sydney, Isla and Rory Dupuis. Also left to mourn her are her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Claire Desharnais, Leandre and Emelda Dupuis and Madeleine Dupuis, many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. She was predeceased by her husband Benoit, her parents, Valerie and Joseph Lamoureux, her brothers, Cleophas, Adhemar and Felix and sisters, Agnès Desaulniers and Laura Roy. Yvonne was born in St. Pierre-Jolys where she lived until she married Benoit Dupuis in 1941. After her marriage she lived in Ste. Elizabeth where she and Benoit farmed. She loved the farm and was always a strong support to her husband. In 1969 they moved to Winnipeg. She worked as a health care aide and chamber maid for many years. Yvonne loved gardening and canned many jars of vegetables, fruits, relishes and jam. She always looked forward to spring so she could plant her garden. In the winter she kept busy quilting, crocheting afghans and doilies. She loved visitors and no one left her house without tea or coffee with a piece of pie or cake. She had a cupboard where the grandchildren knew it was always full of goodies for them. Once she moved into Winnipeg she did volunteering at the Centre Laurent and was very involved in her parish of Ste. Marie. Yvonne was lucky to do some travelling and visited the various places the grandchildren lived such as Lake Louise, Edmonton, Vancouver Island and Ottawa. She went to St. John's, Newfoundland for the wedding of a grandson and even went on a Caribbean cruise for the wedding of another grandson. In 2015 she made the painful decision to leave her home on 62 Haig Avenue and moved to the Colombien. She quickly adapted to her new surrounding but did miss her house. Once she settled to her new surroundings, she enjoyed the company of new friends, playing cards and bingo. Yvonne was a woman of strong faith, generous and hard working. She had a special devotion to the Virgin Mary and her Catholic faith was very important to her. A prayer service and viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street, St. Boniface at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the St. Boniface Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. Lunch and fellowship following, with interment in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Riverview Palliative Care Centre. The family wish to thank the staff of Riverview for the wonderful care given to our Mother Yvonne.
