It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "On Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at his much loved residence "by the lake" in Fisher Bay, MB. George McLeod, at the age of 85 years, was called to rest. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Ivy (Peter) Roebuck, Agnes McLeo".d and friend Donald Collins, Bernice (Jake) Friesen, Victor and friend Wanda Thomas, Dennis, and Sharon McLeod (John) daughter-in-law Dorothy McLeod; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grand-children; brother Allan (Pearl) sisters, Catherine Watton, Verna (Glen) Yerex, Sarah (John) Fedak, and Mary Flett; sister-in-law Margaret Mowatt; also many nieces, nephews; his special friends in Fisher Bay and Fisher River; also distant relatives in Scotland. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Sarah in 1982; son Donald in 1984; brothers, Kenneth and Archie; sisters, Ila and Jenny; and daughter-in-law Lillian. Dad spent his retirement years living at his "beach house" on Lake Winnipeg where he enjoyed gardening, reading local history books, feeding his birds and other pets. His greatest joy was having his children and grandchildren come to visit and telling them stories about the past. Storytelling was his passion. Dad was a very independent person who never dwelled on his hardships. His generosity and unconditional love will always be remembered and appreciated by those who knew and loved him. Grandpa left us with many happy memories, funny stories, appreciation for nature, and a strong sense of family values and unity. Prayer service will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 3:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Services will continue in Norway House, MB, with interment to follow in Towers Island Cemetery on Monday, July 31. The family wishes to extend special thanks to his neighbours Mike, who was like a son to him, and Vivian, for taking care of "Papa George", also his home care attendants Christine and Bev, and Bob Schreyer, Fisher Branch home care coordinator. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georges memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2HB. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1858 Portage Avenue 949-4872
