It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "ZENOBIE CHAMPAGNE, Born: Apr 07, 1910, Date of Passing: Feb 29, 2008; It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend. Mom was born April 7, 1910 to Théophile and Léo".ntine (Bossé) Pattyn. She married Léo Champagne June 6, 1933. Prior to her passing she was the last surviving member of the Pattyn and Champagne family. She will be greatly missed by her loving daughters, Norma (Fernand Grégoire), Irene (Normand Desrochers); son-in-law John Melnic (Léa-deceased). Zénobie will be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Paul Grégoire (Anita), Lise Grégoire, Brigette (Mitchell Lavitt), Kelly (Jeff Glenham), Darren Desrochers, Shelly (Rick André), Dean (Glenda Melnic). Mom also leaves behind her 13 great-grandchildren, Kristine, Natasha, and Zachary Grégoire; Maxine, and Camille Lavitt; Damien, Jeremy and Evan Glenham; Patrick, Jeffrey and Trevor André; Ethan and Chad Melnic. Mom was predeceased by Dad, Léo on October 31, 1957, daughter Léa Melnic on July 3, 1986. Sisters, Virginie VanDePoorten (Dondo), Sylvie Barsalou, Yvonne VanDenAbeele, Marie Brunette (Morier); brothers, Lucien (Rosa), Marcel, Léon, David (évangéline Champagne). Brothers and sisters-in-law: Michel (Maria), Adélard (Joséphine), Joe (Jeanne), Léona (éphrem Daignault), Ninette (Ernest Daignault), évangéline (David Pattyn), and many nieces and nephews. Mom was a very hard worker all of her life. As a young growing teen she helped with the chores on the farm such as milking cows, making hay, harvesting, stacking stooks, cleaning the barn, and what ever else needed to be done. Mom became a widow when we were still very young. In order to support her family mom worked for Saint Boniface Hospital, College de Saint-Boniface, and than spent 25 years working for Pelland Catering, where she finally retired at the young age of 75. She loved her job, even though it was very hard and demanding work. She enjoyed being with people, loved music, dancing, and singing to the old French Canadian tunes. What mom cherished most was family gatherings, playing cards, traveling and camping with the grandchildren. In all that she was, she loved life and lived it to the fullest. Thank you mom for all that you have done for us. We will miss you and love you always. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 5 at the Saint-Boniface Cathedrale at 10:00 a.m., with viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m., including a short eulogy at 9:45 a.m. prior to service. Honorary pallbearers, Dean Melnic, Darren Desrochers, Kelly Glenham, Brian VanDenAbeele, Denis Pattyn, and Richard André. Thank you to all the staff of 2 ABC at Taché Center for the great care given to her during her last 10 years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
