JACOB (JACK) MATTHES, DATE OF PASSING: FEB 18, 2002; It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother and uncle, Jack Matthes on Monday, February 18, 2002 at the age of 82. Jack was predeceased by his dear wife Louise on December 30, 2001; by his parents, Jacob and Karoline Matthes and by one brother Ed Matthes. He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother Ken and wife Naomi Matthes of Regina, SK; his sisters, Ella Drinkle of Saskatoon, SK, Angie Arnst and Ida Koehler of Winnipeg; his sister-in-law Jessie Boily of Winnipeg and his many nieces and nephews. Jack was born and lived most of his life in the Elmwood area. He also spent many enjoyable summers with his wife Louise in their trailer at Wildwood Park, Winnipeg Beach. Declining health forced him to reside at the Beacon Hill Lodge for the last few years. We wish to thank the staff and his friends at the lodge for their kindness. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Ave. with Pastor Richard Kruesel officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jacks memory to The Holy Cross Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. "Rest in Peace Dear One" Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements
