It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "EDWARD JOSEPH BOCHURKA, BORN: APR 24, 1923, DATE OF PASSING: NOV 09, 2000; Edward Joseph Bochurka, aged 77 years, died peacefully with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, November 9, 2000 at the Johnson Memori".al Hospital in Gimli, Man. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Frances; his beloved children, Barry (Kathy), Kevin (Holly) and Janis (Perry) his ten grandchildren, Jason (Kristine), Shawn (Brenda), Clint (Amy), Dustin (Christy), Jamie, Leanne, Harrison, Mikhael, Pamela and Nicole; two great-grandchildren, Davyn and Sinjin; sisters, Jean Dreger and Frances Kamfolio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Peter, mother Wanda, sister Bertha, brother Tom. Ed was born in Winnipeg Beach on April 24, 1923. He lived with his parents on the family farm and at the age of 17 started his own business known as Coaster Garage in the town of Winnipeg Beach. After his successful triumph over polio in 1953, he added Eddies Gravel Supply to Coaster Garage. In 1980 he sold Coaster Garage and moved Eddies Gravel Supply to #9 highway which he successfully ran until retiring in 1991. He was involved in numerous community projects throughout his life. His life was a celebration of numerous sporting hobbies: his favourites included curling, hunting, fishing and camping, often shared with one or more of his grandchildren and friends. Prayers will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Lake Avenue in Winnipeg Beach on Monday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 14 at 10:00 a.m. also in the Church with Fr. Jose Cabrel officiating. Interment to follow in the Polish Pioneer Cemetery, Sandy Hook, Man. Pallbearers are from the Bochurka Family: Jason, Shawn, Clint, Dustin, Jamie and Pamela Dola. All of Eds friends should consider themselves honorary pallbearers. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eds memory may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
