EVELYN KEMPA, BORN: MAR 04, 1923, DATE OF PASSING: JAN 11, 2023; Evelyn Kempa lived a long and eventful life. On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, she passed away all too soon at the age of 99.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two granddaughters, Jessica (Keevin) and Becky and great-grandson, Holden. Also surviving are many dearly loved nieces and nephews including Barb, Tim, John and Sharon, her son-in-law Mike, and countless cherished friends. She was most recently predeceased by her husband Stephen, her daughter Debra and her niece Judy.
Evelyn was born on March 4, 1923 to Stephen and Mary Walleckoff. Shortly after, her brother Eddie was welcomed. Evelyn learned the truth from the Bible as a young woman and dedicated herself as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1945. A few years later she met a charming farm boy named Stephen Kempa. On March 2, 1949 they were married and that loving bond lasted 62 years. In 1966, Steve and Evelyn happily welcomed their daughter Debra to the family.
Evelyn was a hardworking and hospitable person. She enjoyed her secular work at Manitoba archives, but most notably she was always busy caring for others physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Welcoming all to her home on Ruby Street, as a place to stay, for an amazing meal, or for a Bible study - she refreshed everyone around her. Her excellent sense of style, youthful vigour and spunky personality made her one of a kind.
Evelyn will be missed profoundly and we all look forward to seeing her again soon in Jehovah's promised New World. The family would like to express their appreciation to the St. Boniface Hospital staff.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1060 Wolever Ave. with zoom option.

STEPHEN KEMPA, BORN: APR 01, 1923, DATE OF PASSING: APR 09, 2011; It is with profound sadness that the Kempa family announces the passing of Stephen Kempa on April 9, 2011 at the age of 88. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Evelyn, his daughter Debra (Michael), and two granddaughters Jessica (Keevin) and Rebekah. Also surviving are siblings Joseph (Ruth), Ruth, Stella (Ron) and sisters-in-law. He leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews, spiritual children and friends. He was predeceased by parents Andrew and Katherina, siblings William, John, Peter, Michael, Paul, Mary, and Alexander. Stephen was born on April 1, 1923 and was the 6th of 11 children. He enjoyed a happy and busy life as a young man on the family farm in Chatfield, Manitoba. He was privileged to experience a spiritual upbringing and symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God through baptism in 1942 at the age of 19. He met the love of his life, Evelyn, on a double date. They were married March 2, 1949 and that loving bond lasted 62 years. In 1966 their lives changed forever when they welcomed their daughter, Debra, to the family. Stephen spent his days busy as a plumber but his real life's work was preaching the good news of God's Kingdom. Throughout their lives they lovingly opened up their home to many family and friends. Stephen was a loving, generous, and kind man with a real sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all and we look forward to seeing him again in Jehovah's promised new world. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the St. Boniface Hospital staff for their kind and diligent care.

      Memorial service details to follow.
